Human Resources Manager
About the job:
The CSIR has a vacancy for a Human Resources Manager who will be required to
provide HR leadership, advice and guidance to line management on HR best practice and
support operating units to achieve their business objectives. This position is based in
Pretoria.
Key responsibilities:
 Develop and manage HR-related strategies to achieve the HR Plan;
 Manage planned versus actual HR expenses per operating unit;
 Manage the successful implementation of the workforce plan and ensure that recruitment
percentage and employment equity targets are achieved;
 Ensure that the training and development of team members is in accordance with the
Work Skills Plan (WSP);
 Manage the successful implementation of a talent management plan;
 Ensure that HR litigation with regards to cases is successfully won;
 Manage queries or complaints, ensure compliance with defined service standards and
turnaround times and manage HR audit rating;
 Manage planned versus actual implementation of performance improvement measures;
 Manage payroll/benefit queries or complaints and identify appropriate reward and
recognition measures to enable attraction and retention of key staff;
 Manage the successful implementation of the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
and wellness programme and manage improvement of the employee satisfaction rating
on previous rating.
Qualification, skills and experience:
 A National diploma or Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, industrial
psychology and/or related human resources management field. A postgraduate
degree will be an added advantage;
 A minimum of seven years’ experience in a human resources generalist capacity in a
medium to large organisation, o f wh i c h t h r e e y e a r s m u s t have been in a
senior practitioner/ supervisory/junior managerial level;
 In-depth exposure and experience in all the human resources functional areas.
